And (Someone Else's) Finished Object

Ever wondered how a Clapotis would look in Mountain Colors' "Mountain Goat"? Roz found some of the color called Mystic Lake, and she wondered, so now you don't have to:

She was thinking about making one for her mom, but worried that the yarn (wool/mohair blend) would irritate Mom's skin . . .

. . . so this became just a sort of trial run at the pattern,

and Roz will have to keep it for herself. Poor Roz!

I was in the store last Sat. and saw some Mountain Goat in copper which I just had to have, but with no idea of what I'd do with it. Now I know. Thanks.

Lisa-

Do you know how many skeins of Mountain Goat are needed?

Roz says she bought 3; she doesn't say whether she had leftovers. (Roz, if you're reading this, chime in . . . ) But at 230 yds apiece, they're about on target for a pattern that specifies 615 yds total.

Actually, I did have leftovers - I made mine a little more narrow and a little longer than the original pattern.

I used a little of the 3 skein. In fact, if I'd done one less repeat on the straight section, I wouldn't have needed the third skein at all.

I forgot to mention: I've been on a couple of sites/blogs/forums where people mention running out of yarn when making the full-size version of the Clapotis. I believe the designer came out at a later date and said that she actually used "a little more" than 615 yd total mentioned in the pattern. So anyone who's considering it might want to pick up an extra skein of yarn to be on the safe side.

6:15: Ohhhh, yes. It would have been earlier, but Truffle was in the mood to play "fetch" in the park. A lot. Or at least, it seemed like a lot to me, but maybe that's just because I was getting frostbite.
